"+ Respect: Increasing Roma peoples participation and citizenship rights: campaigns and tools"

ERIO was a partner in this project. The project was funded by the Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Programme of the European Commission. The project had the EU wide aims of combating anti-Roma discrimination and increasing the participation of Roma people in the EU democratic process.

Specific aims of the project were to:
  • improve and share a knowledge base of data specific to the Roma to promote non-discrimination by means of effective policies;
  • improve the capacity of local authorities to provide services to the Roma, to coordinate local stakeholders and to increase the participation of the Roma in democratic processes;
  • decrease the negative public perception of the Roma and to improve media communication about the Roma, to increase interaction and mutual understanding;
  • design and implement educational curricula and information actions fostering intercultural exchanges including public occasions relating to Romani culture.
